First and foremost are you a hound person or horse person? Or do they both mean as much to you?
I quite like some dogs, in an abstract sort of way - German Shepherds, foxhounds, dalmatians, all rather appealing. Owning one would not fit into my lifestyle however. And I think letting animals roam around inside one's house is disgusting: one of the guest speakers I invited when I used to organise such things for a national shooting body was a notable trainer of dogs, and he agreed, saying some people "only let the dog in the kitchen" but that was the last room he'd allow a dog into! Quite...
Re horses, I've sat on them, er, maybe 3 times in half a century, felt uneasy, one tried to bite me on the leg. Had a girlfriend years ago who owned horses, but that was all she could talk about, sadly.
Shooting is my thing, rifles that is, not shotguns which I find unexciting. US-style varmint hunting - small pests at as long a range as possible, with high velocity centrefires, precision tuned kit, handloaded ammo... Best ever shooting was my Canadian trip hunting groundhogs (woodchucks) in Ontario with a chum who lives there - huge amounts of space, friendly people, no antis, great sniping at pesky 'hogs 300-400 yards off, must go back soon. Used to shoot handgun too 'til the State took them away from everyone except government employees & criminals. Miss my Colt .45 semi-auto...
UK residents only - in which UK county do you live?
Devon - but I'm a very private person, reluctant to divulge more detailed information on websites such as this. I bet some of your members are secretly antis...
Well, upon looking again through this site, on one hand there's lots of rather turgid stuff and a clear disinclination to engage with serious stuff like politics (boring, but the foundation on which is built either the liberty to engage in hunting, or the illiberal determination to ban it) while OTOH there are some absolutely cracking ladies here from 15 to 50! Got to be a good thing... You're absolute charmers and the best argument in favour of hunting foxes on horseback, a sport that otherwise rather passes me by. Kisses all round.
Sincerely - HPS
Have you mutated into the Beast of Bodmin? If you don't understand the question then I know its not you (see BBC Countryfile forums), but the style is remarkably familiar.
Anti's on our site? My response is straight from Catherine Tate - am I bovvered? Not in the slightest. If these sad losers want to waste time here its their loss. Am i afraid of them? Not at all. It's only fear that's allowed them to get away with what they have.
So, you're a fisher, HP. It's my number number one sport, and my niche is flyfishing for wild brown trout from the Cumbrian lakes. I also love surface plug fishing for pike. I live in an anglers paradise with so much cheap accessible fishing on my doorstep that this lifetime will never be enough! Without revealing too much, where fish you and for what?
