Pictures of dead foxes or foxes that have just been dug out.

I have to question the wisdom of putting up pictures of dead foxes or foxes that have just been dug out on this or any other hunting site for that matter especially by pro hunting people who should know better.

Glad to have this, Kieran. I've been aware of this but have really not wanted to censor, so I'm going to ask myhuntingspace members to decide. Over to you folks. Keep the pictures on or take them off?

If this site is going to degenerate into a I don't like to see dead things group then I for one will be off.

This is a hunting site for all forms of hunting I was under the impression.

There are pictures of dead foxes etc all over the net.

the law states that a terrier can still be used to ground to protect game birds.
the bolted fox should then be shot.
if the terrier needs rescueing it can be dug out , removed from the hole then the fox is to be shot. all legal and above board . fact .
Terrier from the latin Terra (Earth) as in Earth dog.

Some of the foxes in the pictures are'nt dead, these are exactly the images that the antis show in their campaigns against hunting, why hand them the images on a plate. furthermore i've seen plenty of foxes killed above and below ground by hounds and terriers but have never taken any pictures nor would it be allowed at our hunt.
I dont have any problem with using terriers, my problem is these images will be used in the campaign against hunting and will have come ironically from pro hunting people on a pro hunting site

Some of the best Old Lakeland photo's show the Huntsman, hounds and fox,and are great historical records ; I personally don't have a problem with pictures of dead foxes but have to agree that, the images seen on a current Website can be misrepresented to show what ever our opponents choose. Its unfortunately the times we live in,and we need to be mindful of the harm that can be done.

I have no problem seeing or looking at dead animals, I do however question why one would want to put a picture of one on this site.

Those of us that hunt can see dead foxes as and when, I personally don't have the need to see photo's of them, to my mind it plays straight into the hands of the dirty unwashed sabs.

Its a politcal own goal for me.

Perhaps the middle way on this issue re. MHS is to make such photo's only available to selected individuals. The option exists.

This is a hard one, the guys who have been looking at the dead dolphins (and I mean the serious research people) must get a buzz (not from the fact they are dead) but from the fact they have a very intersting case to look at.

(as an aside whats all this nonsense about 'dolphin friendly tuna' what about the bluddy tuna!!)

I always think that earthquake rescue workers must get a buzz when they seen the news of a quake, thats what they live for after all, are paramedics the same? Is it sick or the pleasure from doing you job well?

I have pictures in my office in front of me, showing myself with various fish and other creatures I've caught/killed. They're vaulable mementos that mean a lot, along with the many such pics I've shot and had published in sporting magazines over the years, and they will be a source of comfort when I'm too old and knackered to get out in the field any more. Most natural thing in the world, IMV, to take pictures of oneself with quarry.

Huh? Too obscure for me. Documenting "the chase" is as old as the chase itself. I wonder why you seem to have something against it.

Yes indeed Ron Black, and yours is a nice site with much to commend it - well done. But you know perfectly well that I was referring to documenting one's own fieldsports, by maintaining a photographic record of one's catches & kills - something shootin' & fishin' types have done ever since photography was invented.
As for noms de plume, we've been over that - you might not have a particular professional reputation to keep separate from your private persona, but I have, and I don't think I'm being unduly cautious. Most folk (here and on other sites) would seem to concur.
Regards, HPS
